What We Believe | Apostolic & Oneness Pentecostal Beliefs
At Northwest Church of Jesus Christ, we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the foundation for faith, doctrine and daily living. Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture and centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ as foretold throughout the Old Testament and proclaimed by the apostles in the New Testament.
From Genesis to Revelation, we see God's redemptive plan unfolding through His promise to provide a Savior. We believe that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of that promise, the image of the invisible God, the Savior of the world and the Alpha and Omega, who declared, "I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore" (Revelation 1:17-18). We affirm the biblical truth that there is one God who has revealed Himself fully in Jesus Christ, a belief commonly known as the Oneness.
The following beliefs reflect our commitment to the Apostolic faith and our desire to faithfully follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and His apostles.
The Authority of Scripture
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God and our guide for faith and life.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
The One True God
We believe there is one God who has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God. The Oneness.
Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 9:6, Colossians 2:9, John 20:28
Salvation Through Jesus Christ
We believe salvation is found only through Jesus Christ and His death, burial and resurrection.
Acts 4:12, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Repentance
We believe repentance is a turning away from sin and a turning toward God with faith and obedience.
Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19
Water Baptism in Jesus' Name
We believe water baptism by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ is the biblical response of faith and obedience following repentance.
Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5
Spiritual Gifts
We believe that God equips believers through His Holy Spirit with a variety of spiritual gifts for the building up of the church and the benefit of others. While these gifts may differ, they are given by the same Spirit and are intended to work together in unity to strengthen the body of Christ, serve others in love and advance God's Kingdom.
1 Corinthians 12:4-27; Romans 12:4-8; Ephesians 4:11-13
Christian Living
We believe Christians are called to pursue holiness, spiritual growth, prayer, worship, discipleship and service as followers of Jesus Christ.
Romans 12:1-2, 1 Peter 1:15-16
The Apostolic Faith
We seek to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and the apostles as recorded in the New Testament. Our desire is to faithfully proclaim the Apostolic Gospel and help people grow in their relationship with God through His Word, His Spirit and His church.
